Former Location of Isolation Room

In the early 20th century, only the patients who could afford treatment in the high-end hospital accommodations of the Phillips House would expect a private room. However, scientists had understood for several decades that bacteria and viruses cause contagious disease. Patients with diseases that were considered a particular risk were sometimes treated in “isolation rooms,” such as the one that was located here.
