Portrait of Loretta Joy Cummins, MD (1883-1958)

Cummins graduated from Tufts Medical School in 1903. In 1916 she was hired as an assistant in dermatology at MGH, becoming the first woman on the clinical staff, and in 1928 was appointed as a dermatologist. She was also the first woman to pass the Dermatology Boards and to be president of the New England Dermatological Society. Cummins founded a fund for MGH and a scholarship fund for women at Tufts Medical School.
