In microbiology, culture refers to the growth of microorganisms for study, and a medium is the substrate where cultures are grown. This area was used to prepare cultures and media for use in pathological investigation. The Notebook of Microbiology Statistics, 1945-1957, pictured here contains weekly tabulations and details of microbiology samples processed from various areas of the hospital, including surgery and autopsies.
