WWII Honor Roll

This plaque lists the names of the 643 Mass General doctors, nurses and other employees who were in the Armed Forces for some part of WWII. About 40% of physicians and residents, 30% of nurses and 11% of other employees served. Mass General organized and ran the U.S. Army’s 6th General Hospital; some of the medical officers are pictured here. The 6th General Hospital was not a physical location but a mobile unit which served in Casablanca, Morocco, then in Rome, Bologna and Livorno, Italy.
