This plaque lists the names of the 643 Mass General doctors, nurses and other employees who were in the Armed Forces for some part of WWII. About 40% of physicians and residents, 30% of nurses and 11% of other employees served. Mass General organized and ran the U.S. Army’s 6th General Hospital; some of the medical officers are pictured here. The 6th General Hospital was not a physical location but a mobile unit which served in Casablanca, Morocco, then in Rome, Bologna and Livorno, Italy.
